Done in a "Sn@p"!!

I love being able to create layouts in a short amount of time & not have to spend hours & hours (or sometimes even days).  That's why I absolutely adore Simple Stories Sn@p collection.  It is so versatile - going with pretty much any theme that you can possibly think of!

I used the Sn@p collection to create two 12x12 layouts.

The first one is about my daughter turning 12.  Still can't believe that I gave birth to her twelve years ago. How time flies. 

I decided to keep the layout relatively monochromatic and stick with the turquoise designs. I did add some color here and there.  I just love how the stickers work for adding so much of the embellishments - as that is pretty much all that I used ... along with foam squares (my favorite for adding dimension!)

My second layout I created about my dad's 70th birthday.  Both my daughter and my dad have birthdays in the same month and a little over a week apart.  My dad wanted to do something fun & memorable with his grandchildren.  So on the day of his birthday he picked up all of the children from school.  I drove them (because I was also the photographer :)  to one of our family favorite ice cream stores right on the beach.  Dad treated everyone to a delicious ice cream cone. The kids loved it!  

We hung around the beach for a while throwing stones into the ocean and I took a few pictures of Grandpa with his 5 grandchildren. The Sn@p collection has such fun colors that they just make you smile.  So they were a perfect match for these photos - as it was such a fun day for everyone!

Home Decor with Harvest Lane

Hello everyone Yuki here! Today I am sharing a simple idea of fall home decore.

I decorated 8”x8” wooden shadow box with the Harvest Lane collection. This collection is perfect for your fall projects!

I love the patterned papers and stickers in this collection so much!

I cut out 4x6 Vertical Journaling Card Elements then inserted it in the simple wooden frame. Is this too simple?

{Simple} Inspiration

Hi Everyone!  Donna here, your host for the blog today.  I think you might have surmised by now that the entire design team is in love with Sn@p!  Aren't you?  I mean, it is so amazingly fun and vibrant and happy!  I hope you will forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but once again I find that Simple Stories has the most inspiring designs.  I'd like to show you today how I took inspiration from the Sn@p! Icon Stickers:

to create a layout and two cards.  I was first drawn to the circle stickers with their graphic design and bold colors.  I loved the shapes within a circle and made this card to start.

After having made this card with its simple grid, I couldn't get grids out of my head.  I decided to build on that idea and created a grid-style layout with lots of simple layers.

I cut the numbers and icons using my Silhouette Cameo.  The icons are adhered using foam adhesive to add dimension to an otherwise flat page.

And for the numbers, I decided to use the negative image of the number and then back that image with papers from the Sn@p! Life Basics 6x6 paper pad.

 

And my goodness, can I tell you how much I love the Simple Basics that coordinate with Sn@p! Life?

I used the 6x6 paper pad here, but I love the 12x12 papers equally well, and I am certain I will need many sheets of all of the patterns. 

Finally, since I was just having so much fun, and because I happen to love the yellow polka dot that is a part of Sn@p! Color Vibe, I made this card.

 

The sentiment on the card above was stamped onto one of the label stickers:

I probably don't have to say this, but I love these too!  I wanted to mention something about the stickers before I go, and that is, they are a matte finish and are perfect for stamping!  It also makes them perfect for Project Life or for layouts since you can easily add some journaling, a short note, or date without worrying about it smudging.

a layout and a journal to take along

Hi everyone, Natasja here.

While rather impatiently waiting for the box of Sn@p! to go through customs I have been playing with the other amazing lines, like Harvast Lane :)

 

The pictures on this layout are snap shots I made using Instagram (natasjaverbeek - if you would like to follow me). I love to play with all the amazing photo apps on my iphone and only incidentally use my camera now a days.

Since those two look so cute on these pictures I printed them straight away to use on a layout. I grabbed Harvest Lane since I think the colors match great!

Ater I had finished this layout I grabbed the Documented Mix & Match 6x8 Album (#2000) I still had. Took out the papers and filled it with the Take a Hike Sn@p! pages (#2522).

Since we are heading for a camping trip next week I want to have a travel journal to take along but not to much other stuff to go with it. To make it as each as possible to work on during this trip I adhered the biggest Pocket from the Take a Hike Sn@p! Pockets (#2523) on the inside cover and slide the cut up 12x12 Expression Cardstock Stickers (#2503) right in there, ready to use.

 

The rest of the pockets I slided in to one of the page protectors so I can put them in place during the trip, ready to add some fun memorables. 

 

Also added to that pocket will be the Take a Hike Flash Cards (#2509) and the Take a Hike Signature Elements (#2510). Those are also already cut into pieces.

 

Next to this album I will bring along some glue, a black and white marker, a mini stapler and maybe one or two rolls of whasi tape....o and not to forget, my Iphone to take the pictures with! I am planning to come back with an (almost) finished album for which I only have to print and add my pictures. 

I will make sure to show you all the result in a next blogpost!

Fall Page

So Very Thankful Mini

Good morning everyone! I'm here today to share the beginning of my "So Very Thankful" mini album. Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect about everything we're thankful for, and for me, to recap everything we did the year prior. I combined both of those ideas into my mini and is my second year capturing my yearly moments and thanks this way.

I used a combination of Harvest Lane Sn@p pages and divided page protectors, adding in Harvest Lane 4x6 journaling card inserts and papers cut to size.

On this page, I added a Harvest Lane Sn@p pocket to hide some journaling- "10 Things I'm Grateful For". I plan on adding a lot more of these throughout the album as it gets put together. The other side is a spread about my son and all the changes he's gone through this past year.

Next up is a page for my goofy husband and, beside it, an insert about my extended family.

I kept most of these pages and inserts really simple- the focus is really on the story. This is what makes Simple Stories so great- all their collections make this so easy and it comes together so quickly!

I couldn't resist using this page to show a funny picture of my husband and I from way back in middle school. I'm really thankful we managed to bump back into each other 7 years later!

This page is a great example of how easy this mini is- I just cut the 4x6 card in the top section, added my journaling, and that was all it took. I could have embellished it a bit more, but as I said, this mini is more about the story.

I even utilized the backside of the card- it shows through to the other side of the page protector. It saves paper, helps me fill some space, and adds a cute sentiment to echo the theme of the mini.

This is as far as I've gotten into my mini but plan to keep adding throughout the next few months. At the very end, I'll include photos from our Thanksgiving and then it will be time to break out the December Daily!

Park & Fall Pages

Is this a busy time of year for you?  Trying to get those Fall memories documented?  The Harvest Lane collection is a great palette for getting those photos scrapped and the design elements make it, "Oh so easy!"  This page of my son playing at the park was created in less than an hour...

Push yourself to scrap more than one photo.  I like to combine 4 x 6 photos with wallet-sized ones to get a better feel for the event/moment and to add more personality to the layout.  I also love to pick up the main colors in a photos with the border of the layout page, so this light floral pattened paper was a great compliment and makes the photos pop.

I love how there are multiple sizes of alphabet stickers included with each collection.  It was fun to wrap my title around the page and start with the largest letters (featured below) and end with this phrase using the smaller red alphabet.  The grid patterened paper makes it so easy to line up all the elements on the page.

The 4 x 6 journal elements make great photo mats, like the one I used here to make this funny picture of my son stand out a little more on the page.

The cardstock stickers are wonderful embellishments and sentiments.  Add a little bit of foam tape to make them more dimenstional without too much bulk on the page.  Simple is the way to go at a busy time of year like Fall.  Hope this page provides a little inspiration on how to scrap in a hurry.

Mix & Match Album: Take the Journey {Part 2 of 2}

 

Hello All!  Wendy here to inspire you & share up the rest of my "Take the Journey" album previously shared up in Part 1 of 2 here.

I'm sure you all are loving the new releases from Simple Stories revealed up at the past CHA summer show and two of those collections were Harvest Lane and Take a Hike!  I worked with both of these collections on my project and actually combined them both in this project share titled "Take the Journey". Both collections speak together in colors, patterns, and also shows you how well the Simple Stories concept works in documenting the journey in the page protector format in a cohesive way!  Many times I'll grab & cross mingle collections in one project and they are just always "on-point" in matching up!

In this project I used the elements of Simple Stories along with random bits of lots of stamping and details to highlight the theme and mood of the album...a masculine blend with the outdoorsy. Hope that makes sense! :)

A bit into this album.....My boyfriend, Vincenzo (Enzo for short), is Italian and lives in Austria and he is quite the adventurous with skiing, fishing, scuba diving, an amazing "green thumb" in growing roses, and just enjoying the outdoors and quite just the landscape seeker. So, in essence, these collections were the perfect backdrop in putting together my album plus the colors are pretty magical for autumn too!  He's coming to visit me in November here in the States where I live on the Gulf of AL, so I'm sure more adventures... :)

Also, the 6x8 Mix & Match Simple Stories albums are just perfection for weekend trips, sweet journeys new & old, and capturing the everyday.   

Oh, and Sn@p will be bringing that into an entire new level of cool.ness.

A {Simple} frame in a sn@p !

This week a few of us were challenged to do something fun with the  Handmade Holiday collection 3x4 Sn@p Cards. Today, Yuki here to share with you a simple home decor using some those mini Sn@p cards.

The frame’s size is 12x6”.  I have used three 3x4 cards with a bit of Handmade Holiday patterned paper, ribbon, and buttons for this project.

Have You Started Thinking About the Holidays?

This week a few of us were challenged to do something fun with the Handmade Holiday collection 3 x 4 Sn@p Cards.  They are so stinkin' cute and just like the collection title, inspire handmade projects.  I could not help but think that I should get a jump on gift ideas...

I thought the Sn@p cards screamed, "Make me into a gift tag!" So, in my favorite Simple Stories style, I made some very SIMPLE handmade gift tags.

These were super easy to make and only required a few products and supplies.  I used the Handmade Holiday 3 x 4 Sn@p Cards, the 6 x 6 Patterned Paper Pad, chalk ink, adhesive, a corner rounder punch and some twine. Simple, right?

The 6x6 pads are my favorite because it is all of the same 12 x 12 papers but with reduced patterns and sentiments.  It is the perfect size for cards and smaller projects.

It took me 30 minutes to make 6 tags, but honestly by the 6th tag I was cruising and could have probably made the next 6 tags in half the time.  It took me the most time to figure out how I would pair the products for the deisgns than it took to actually put them together.

I like the slightly "off color" twine because it contrasts nicely with the palette of the collection and makes the tag look even more handmade.

Adding foam tape between the layers of the 3 x 4 Sn@p Card and the reduced 4x6 journal card from the 6 x 6 Patterned Paper pad adds some dimension and makes the sentiment "pop out" a little more.

There were so many cards and sentiments to choose from that the possibilities for the tags are endless and the backs of the 3 x 4 Sn@p cards are printed too.  I think they would look terrific on plain brown paper gift bags, which has the earth friendly recycled feel to it.

I love this plaid pattern and how you can write a person's name or short note in the top right corner of the tag.

Hope you are inspired to start making your own tags, especially since they are so simple.  I have 6 down and a gazillion to go...but at least it won't take me forever.  And SIMPLY put, since I have already started, I will be ready for the holidays.
