{Guiseppa Says} What I really love about the Simple Basics Papers is that they are just that...simple. This allows me to incorporate them into my projects with ease. For this layout, I used my Silhouette and cut out several embellishments. I cut out the large frame that encases the whole project, the birdcage and flowers. I also hand cut the label from the Simple Basics paper. I love that the Simple Basics papers allow me to create beautiful embellishments because the patterns and designs are simple, yet beautiful.
{Ashley States} For this challenge, I created two cards around the Simple Basics Bingo cards, using the same layout for each. I used the boldest pattern from Simple Basics in both the Awesome and Fabulous lines and toned them down a bit with a section of a more neutral paper near the bottom. I created a focal point for each by creating a dimensional star and flower with the basics, and then added in a few cardstock stickers for interest.
{Shellye Says} I love that you can mix and match the different Simple Stories Basics from different lines: the Year-O-Graphy works beautifully alongside Awesome! I think the Blue adds just the right amount of pop to the layout, without over-doing-it. I yearn for an old manual typewriter so that I can type directly onto pieces for my projects. But I found that you can get a very similar look by using your home computer and printer.
First, I downloaded "Typerwriterhand" from dafont.com and typed out my journaling onto a regular sheet of paper. I then cut out the journaling card and (using a lightbox or lamp) placed the card over the printed area with just a bit of adhesive; just reprint as before and gently remove from the paper. I have done this for several projects and so far it's worked like a charm :)
{Tonya States} This challenge was right up my alley! I love taking the simpler/plainer looking papers and using them to make decorative elements. Often times the busier patterned papers make overwhelm me and I'm not sure where to start with them! For this layout I went to town with my Silhouette Cameo. I started with the Summer Fresh Burlap paper and used the negative space of a woodgrain background die cut. Next I adhered those pieces to the Summer Fresh Denim paper. The burlap and the denim together were perfect! However, my photo of my daughter is a pretty feminine photo so I felt that flowers and bows were in order. The contrast of the masculine and the feminine together was just the right touch as my girl is what I have always been...a feminine tomboy!
{Yuki Says} I really love the Simple Basics papers! I made three cards with the Simple Basics papers from the Fabulous line and the Year O graphy line. I added a few extra stickers, punches, trims and spangles. I also combined the alpha stickers from the Fabulous line! Everything just coordinates so well!
{ Melissa States} "Simple Basics are like the sweet, little black dress of scrapbooking! I love the prints that coordinate so easily with all collections and make paper-crafting so easy and enjoyable. For my project I created a card set using many of the Summer Fresh Simple Basics, all held snuggly in a small brown paper sack, also embellished with Simple Basic supplies. Die-cutting is one of my most favorite things to do with patterned paper, so I created layers of die-cut stars using prints from the Simple Basics collection, topped with die cut felt, burlap, trim, buttons, and Baker's Twine. "
{Kay Says} I am a simple scrapbooker with an eye for basic design and that is why I love our Simple Basics Papers! Simple Stories always includes super cute tone on tone designs as well as basic colors and combinations that work well with each of their paper collections!
{Kellie States} I fell in love with the Summer Fresh Simple Basics Designer Cardstock Grid paper, so I used it for the base of my mini album. I love the Simple grid pattern and the soft colors. This is a 4” x 6” mini album, I cut the inside pages into “film strips”, they are 2”x 6” and decorated them with the Summer Fresh Cardstock Stickers. I printed my journaling on a transparency.
