{Simple} Inspiration

Hi Everyone!  Donna here, your host for the blog today.  I think you might have surmised by now that the entire design team is in love with Sn@p!  Aren't you?  I mean, it is so amazingly fun and vibrant and happy!  I hope you will forgive me for sounding like a broken record, but once again I find that Simple Stories has the most inspiring designs.  I'd like to show you today how I took inspiration from the Sn@p! Icon Stickers:

to create a layout and two cards.  I was first drawn to the circle stickers with their graphic design and bold colors.  I loved the shapes within a circle and made this card to start.

After having made this card with its simple grid, I couldn't get grids out of my head.  I decided to build on that idea and created a grid-style layout with lots of simple layers.

I cut the numbers and icons using my Silhouette Cameo.  The icons are adhered using foam adhesive to add dimension to an otherwise flat page.

And for the numbers, I decided to use the negative image of the number and then back that image with papers from the Sn@p! Life Basics 6x6 paper pad.

 

And my goodness, can I tell you how much I love the Simple Basics that coordinate with Sn@p! Life?

I used the 6x6 paper pad here, but I love the 12x12 papers equally well, and I am certain I will need many sheets of all of the patterns. 

Finally, since I was just having so much fun, and because I happen to love the yellow polka dot that is a part of Sn@p! Color Vibe, I made this card.

 

The sentiment on the card above was stamped onto one of the label stickers:

I probably don't have to say this, but I love these too!  I wanted to mention something about the stickers before I go, and that is, they are a matte finish and are perfect for stamping!  It also makes them perfect for Project Life or for layouts since you can easily add some journaling, a short note, or date without worrying about it smudging.

Having Fun with Sn@p!

Hi Simple Stories friends!  It's Kellie here today, and I am having tons of fun playing with the new SN@P line.  I am in love with all the bright fun colors and my favorite piece of the collection (if I had to choose just one favorite) would be the stickers.  And SN@P is now available!  Well I could talk all day about SN@P... but onto the project.

      I know it's a little early for teacher gifts, but the project today goes along with another project I have planned at the end of the month.  During the day I have the privilege of working at a elementary school and everyday I get to work with a lot of amazing teachers.  I am always on the look out for cute gifts to give my kid's teachers at the end of the year, and here is what I came up with..

 It is actually a 3D apple.  I made the stand out of  a wooden circle plaque with a dowel attached to the center of the plaque.  The apple slides over top of the dowel so the apple album can spin around.  I painted the stand dark brown and covered the dowel with Brown Mini Dot paper and added a sticker at the bottom from the Sn@p Life sticker sheet.  I tied it together with some jute twine to hold the pages back and added a Sn@p pocket to hold a note or a gift card.

Once you untie the twine it opens up into a little 3D apple album.  I used a svg file to cut out the apple, but you could certainly make your own pattern to cut the pieces out.  I cut out 14 large apples (7 3/4 x 7 3/4) and 14 small apples (6 3/4 x 6 3/4).  For the large apples I used Red Dot, Red Mini Dot, Green Dot, and Green Mini Dot paper.  The little apples were cut from the Sn@p Life 6x6 Pad.

After you cut all your apple pieces out you need to score the apples down the center and fold them in half.  I distressed the edges of the large apples and inked the edges of the small apples.

Next is the core of the apple, this is what holds the album together.  I used 3 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 Kraft cardstock (you can use any type of cardstock).  I cut the cardstock into 14 strips 2 inches wide, and I scored them down the center.

The strips need to be folded in half

Then you take the strips and glue them together back to back.  I just start stacking them on top of each other gluing them one at a time.  I really like to glue them good, because this is what holds it together. 

After your core is all glued together, you can start adding the apple pages.  Basically it is just a repeat of what you did with the strips, but you are gluing the apple pages back to back and to the core strips.  Once I have all the large apples glued in, I like to add the small apple pages.

 Next is the fun part... decorating the pages!  The Sn@p 6x6 pads work really great for this project.  The little cards fit perfectly in this album.  To show you a few example pages I used some of my kids school photos, the small wallet photos work great.

There is enough room where each child could write a sweet message to their teacher.

mix & match in a sn@p...

Hello and Happy Autumn!  I've been creating up a storm as the cool, crisp, fall weather has settled in.  This season is one of my very most favorite seasons to craft in because of the desire it brings to nestle in and get cozy with my crafting supplies.  Today I have a card set to share with you created in the delightful colors of autumn.  I love mixing and matching my crafting supplies and today's projects are a definite mix of many Simple Stories products.

The Sn@p Studio products are so versatile and basic and provide a wonderful go-to resource for finishing touches.  I began both of these card using patterned paper from the Sn@p Color Vibe 6x6 Paper Pad.  The chevron sheets were just calling to me and I couldn't resist.  

Next came elements from the Harvest Lane 6x6 Paper Pad which provided a wonderful base from which to build on.   I used a Label Sticker from the Sn@p Stickers Labels package on both cards to create a focal point and started layering with seasonal stickers from the Year-o-graphy Fundamental Cardstock Stickers sheet.

Lastly came the addition of fun little bits and bobs using more Sn@p Stickers Labels, Sn@p Stickers Icons, and Sn@p Stickers Letters.  The Sn@p collection is like a candy store to me with endless possibilities and combinations waiting.  I love adding them in with other Simple Stories collections.

Simple Stories Flashback // "Awesome" Collection: The One

Hi All!!  Wendy here to take you back "ol' skool" to a much-loved collection released earlier by Simple Stories....the "Awesome" Collection!  This collection is simply & stylish perfection for those guys - young, old, and middle of the road (ha!) - in your life! Also, there are some coordinating stamps over at Unity Stamps for the Awesome collection here.

I love this collection even better with the addition of the 6x8 Mix & Match album pages.  I'm planning to work this first layout into creating an on-going 6x8 Mix & Match for my boyfriend, Enzo.  The great & simple style to these pages, make it workable and ready to go.

Plus, I've said it once, and again....Simple Stories just cross mixes well among collections!  

Here is my 6x8 layout using one of the 6x8 Mix & Match pages in the Awesome collection, layout titled "The One".

I used a banner border sticker from the sticker sheet in this collection for the top of the page.  Also, I added in some dimensional embellishing for texture and depth.

All lovers' of Washi tape! Well, Simple Stories has some stickers on the sticker sheet in this collection that resembles Washi tape.  Here I used the green houndstooth "Washi" sticker on the ticket stub.

Have you grabbed up some Sn@p yet?! Well, I'm in major fanatic love with the letter stickers!  

Here I mixed up the "tone on tone" letter stickers that match with the background paper.  All the proof here that the 2 collections match together - Sn@p + Awesome!

A Sn@p! Happy Monday!

Sn@ppy Tags and a Layout!

 

Happy Monday morning all...Guiseppa here to share with you a couple of projects I made with Sn@p!  I recently got these fabulous Sn@p goodies delivered to my doorstep and I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  This collection is even better in person.  I know the collection should be available in stores rally soon and I can guarantee it's gonna change the scrappy world...FOREVER!  So, run...not walk and pick Sn@p up right away cause it will fly off the shelves.

 

I wanted to show a little  bit of the diversity  that Sn@p has to offer.  It is great for speed scrapping, but you can create anything you want with it.  First off, I made this fun little tags, perfect to add to a little gift for a friend, loved one or family member.

These came together so easily and that is what Sn@p is intended to do...make your projects come together quickly.  Lastly, here is a layout too.  Look how awesome Sn@p works in creating 12x12 layouts!

Fun right?  I have got to put a plug in for my dear friends at Adornit.  They make these really cute wood embellishments you see on my layout.  They worked perfectly on this project and look so cute with Sn@p!

Scrumptious SN@P! Goodies!

Happy Saturday everyone!  Kim here with some new Snap! projects to share with you today. First let me just say when I opened my latest box from Simple Stories, I just about fainted!  I was overwhelmed by all the scrumptious Snap product that it contained:

Don't you agree?  I am so blessed and lucky I am to be part of this wonderful family here at Simple Stories!  I couldn't wait to play...and so I just dove right in and started creating.  What I have to share with you today is a scrumptious layout created with this scrumptious line!

There is just something happy about working with this color palette...you just can't help but smile the whole time! 

While I love everything about this line, I think the Basics papers are my absolute favorite.  All the bright shades of this line combined with that faint graph is absolute perfection.

Sn@p: Funny Sayings

Good morning! Jill here to share a couple of projects using the absolutely fabulous, bright and fun Sn@p collection. My daughters are almost 3 -1/2 and over the past year they have been saying some hilarious things. I try to write everything down as they say it or it at least makes a Facebook status if it's appropriate. ;) One day I was working on something in my kitchen and it was a little too quiet for comfort upstairs. I went to check on the girls and they were each "resting" in their beds and one of them pipes up..."We're just thinking about college..." And, cue my surprised look! I about fell over laughing. It might just be me but I think I would like to attempt preschool before we even consider the heartache of sending them to college! :)

Sn@p is certainly perfect for those doing Project Life but since that is not something I am doing, I wanted to use the collection to capture a perfectly ordinary moment in our lives but one that I will not soon forget. The photos were not taken in the moment but just ones I had snapped of them getting ready to head to grandma's house for an overnight stay by themselves. They look so grown-up to me with their too-big-for-their-little-bodies backpacks that I chose to highlight them with this particular funny saying.  The 3 x 4 cards have perfect prompts for beginning titles...

I always love to mix and match my alphabet stickers for titles and I love the variety in the Sn@p collection.

And I also love the new phrase stickers found sprinkled throughout the collection...

As always I like to create a quick and easy card when I have my supplies out.

In A Sn@p!

Hello, it's Emily Pitts on board today and I've got a layout for you that I made in less than an hour. How did I do that you may ask? Well, it's all thanks to Simple Stories' newest venture: SN@P! The perfect assortment of embellishments makes me a happy girl, and with all the stickers, flashcards, transparencies, and papers, well SN@P! has exactly what I need! Add bright happy colors and I'm giddy. The Design Team has been oohing and aahing over the boxes that have been arriving at our door steps, it's really as fun as it looks! And it will be shipping to stores VERY SOON, you will have your chance to play with these awesome collections in the near future!

I loved having so many options to work with for this layout about my son's quest to earn his multiplication license. I'd had the license kicking around my scrap loft for a very long time. He's now in 9th grade. I knew the bright yellow license would look wonderful with the bright happy colors of Sn@p!, and with all the fun phrases (Simple Stories products have the best words/phrases out there, they are not corny and old-fashioned, they really know how to do it right!), I had a hard time stopping at just a few. And for anyone who remembers learning your multiplication facts, you'll remember they were timed. How perfect to have a clock in the collection, don't you think?

I think Sn@p! is my favorite collection to date, it doesn't hurt it's case that there is a great sans serif all caps alpha in 8 colors! You'll have enough letters to create titles for a very long time.  And those 8 colors are the most lovely shades, very usable. Can you tell I'm in love?

And although I don't participate in the Project Life thing, I KNOW those of you who do will find these collections changing the face of daily documenting everywhere. I am sold on Sn@p! and I know you'll be feeling the same way very soon!

Simply Inspired

Hello again! It's Gail here and I've been playing with Harvest Lane!

We don't have much of a Fall season here in Australia but I love the colours of Harvest Lane so much, I think I'll get plenty of use from it!

I couldn't resist scrapping these photos of my baby boy's first haircut! As a good scrapping Mother, I kept a lock of his baby hair and tucked it away safely. I do intend to add it into the glassine packet on the layout, but I couldn't find where I put it! Aaargh! 

I was inspired by the "ribbon" graphic on the following paper but I recreated my own as a dimensional accent! 

I used papers from the 6"x6"  paper pad to create the layers, it was just perfect using the tinier patterns.

Such a cool accent and you could customise to suit any theme, depending on what words you add!
