Simply Nuts

Hi everybody. Tonya here today to share with you a couple of cards that I made using the new Take A Hike Collection. I love this line and am going to find so many uses for it...so many summer photos that I have taken will work wonderfully with this! 

Today I wanted to share with you two uses that have absolutely nothing to do with hiking! First up is is this fun card.

I used stickers from the 12x12 Fundamental Cardstock Stickers Sheet to make the little scene with the tree, squirrel, and nuts. The alphabet stickers came from the 12x12 Expression Cardstock Stickers.

This second card uses stickers from the same two 12x12 sticker sheets mentioned above.

Mix & Match Album: Take the Journey {Part 1 of 2}

 

Hello All!  Wendy here to inspire you a bit today. It's been awhile since I posted around here and now that the CHA Summer Show jets have cooled off, time to share up my project created for the Simple Stories booth. If you were a lucky duck to be at the show, I'm sure you LOVED all the new releases from Simple Stories revealed up at the show and two of those collections were Harvest Lane and Take a Hike!  I worked with both of these collections on my project and actually combined them both in this project share titled "Take the Journey". Both collections gel really well together in colors, patterns, and also shows you how well the Simple Stories concept works in documenting the journey in the page protector format in a cohesive way!

Typically, my projects have spiced it up with lots of details and packed with Simple Stories goodies, so I'm going to break up this album into 2 posts, Part 1 of 2 and Part 2 of 2.

the s'more the merrier...

Hi Simple Stories lovers!  Today's project is all about celebrating the last few days of summer and uses the new Take a Hike collection.  Maybe you've had a chance to go camping as a family this summer or in the past and now that the kids are back in school, you can pull out those photos and enjoy creating memories on page!  

I used the collection to create a fun S'mores kit using the paper for a graham cracker wrap, to dress up a container of coconut marshmallows (have you tried them on S'mores?), and then also using the fun Sn@p pockets to hold the Hershey's bars themselves.  A perfect gift for happy campers!

I could easily get lost in all of the darling images and their fun sentiments used throughout this collection.  So much fun and definitely inspiring!

Sunburst On A Small Scale

Happy Friday everyone! Emily Pitts with you today, sharing a tutorial on how to make the sunbursts that have been so popular in scrapbookingland lately. I've tried this before with varying levels of success, but I found a way that works for me, so I thought I'd share it with you in card version. Bonus? You get three cards with this technique! I'm set!

I used the gorgeous new Harvest Lane line, the colors are so rich and happy, the papers are perfect scale for cards. It was easy to come up with a color combination I liked!

1. Measure your card blank and cut three rectangles just smaller than the front of your card. My card was 6.5" x 5", so I cut my rectangles 6.25" x 4.75".

2. Stack the three rectangles together, pick a center for your sunburst, then carefully cut your sunburst pattern into all three shapes. Don't go all the way to the center, you know how those FOR SALES signs at the grocery store where you can rip off the number? That's what you need to have here. I made sure there was a quarter inch between each "ray." This gives you the separated look, and makes the piecing of the sunbursts SO MUCH EASIER (remember, I've tried this before)!!!!  I then carefully separated the three rectanges from each other.

3. I ripped one of the "rays" off and attached it to the front of my card with adhesive. I repeated this step with the different colors, using the tiny quarter inch strips to help me place each "ray."

4. I finished off the sunburst and ended up with a rough and ripped up center. No worries!

5. I proceeded to cover up that center spot with a sentiment. Super easy.

6. I decorated the sentiment up using the 6x6 pad, a bird sticker, some more patterned paper, and twine. 

 

7. Once I finished the one card, I repeated the same process with the left over "rays." This is what I was left with. I think they might make an interesting card in themselves...

 

8. Here are the complete trio of cards. One of the things I love about Simple Stories is the great sentiments they have in their lines. Very usable for both scrapbookers and cardmakers!

This process could easily be translated into a layout, using 3 different sheets of paper. You'd have three similar backgrounds, but I'm OK with that when it turns out this cool!

First Time Fishin' & Our Favorite Ride

Hello friends, Jill here with you today to share a few projects. The first two are with the new "Take a Hike" collection. You would never guess it because I am such a girly girl but I absolutely LOVE to fish. My dad taught me how as a little girl and it's a pasttime that I want to pass onto my own children. The girls had fishing poles by their first birthday but we waited a little more realistically until they turned three for their first fishing experience. We had a family reunion this summer at a lodge with a pond where both girls had a chance to catch their first fish.

The triangles (which are actually punched squares cut in half) help draw the eye to the title.

One of my daughters kept screaming "It's alive!" so I had to include that as a sub-title. :)

While I had my supplies out, I also created a fishing themed birthday card for my dad. I love how this collection has so many activities included - fishing, camping, hiking and more!

I have another layout to share with you today using the "Summer Fresh" collection and my girls enjoying their favorite ride - the train - on the 4th of July. They went on the ride with their aunt and cousin and were so cute waving at us watching them.

Dressing Up those Christmas Presents!

Hi there!  Kim here with some fun Handmade Holiday tags to share with you!

I love to buy Christmas presents but I love to wrap them even more!  Every year I wrap my gifts in plain kraft paper and then I dress them up with homemade tags.  Imagine how excited I was when I received my Homemade Holiday Collection with this piece of paper:

All I had to do is team that up with this fabulous sticker sheet:

What I ended up with was some quick & easy tags that are going to look fabulous on my presents this year!

To give my tags dimension, I used popdots and added in other fun elements like twigs, twine, buttons, wire, sticks and clothespins. 

Do you know what the good news is.... I only used 5 of the 12 bingo cards on the sheet....I still have seven fun tags left to create!

Title Strip Elements Challenge

Hello again! It's Gail here to share another layout using the Summer Fresh range (I'm eagerly awaiting my package of the newest goodies from Simple Stories to reach me down under!).

I set myself a little challenge with this layout: using the Title Strip Elements. It seems that I haven't been using them as much as the other elements so it was time to correct that!

All the strip layering under my photo as well as most of the embellishments have been cut from the strips. Can you spot them all?

The clouds, banners, file tab and even my title have been cut from these versatile strips!

This page then came together quite quickly - after choosing and layering my Simple Stories elements, I just added a bit of texture with stitching, twine, ribbon and buttons. 

Hmmm. I think that's the perfect formula for a quick, balanced and interesting layout!

Little layout

Good morning Simple Stories fans!! It's Natasja here with a layout I created using the Summer Fresh collection.

The layout is made with pictures of our now 14 week old son Aiden. These cute pictures were made when he was seven days old :)

 

To create this 8.5x11" layout I put my Silhoutte Cameo to use. I cut the white cardstock on both sides 0.5" smaller than the background paper and than cut out the text "Hello Little One".

After glueing down the cardstock I outlined the letters with a black marker to get some shade effects.

 

In the smaller square patterned paper (Sunshine & Happiness) I cut out a few hearts in differant sizes also using my cameo. The cut out hearts I adhered using 3-d tape and outlined them with a white marker. 

 

I handcut the banner shape out of the dark (Easy Breezy) patterned paper and than assembled the rest of the layout with some tissue paper to create lots of dimention in this layout. Put down the pictures and finished it of with some stickers.

Simple Frame

Hi all ! Yuki here, with a simple project to share using the Summer Fresh collection.

We love to travel and each time we go traveling, we bring back with a ton of photos. I always feel compelled to make a great album to document our memories. However, after  putting a huge pile of laundry away, I am completely exhausted and I can’t tie into a big project immediately.  So I often make a simple one photo layout in the 6x12 frame while our memories of trip are still hot.

Simple Stories has many ready-made products in the collections. Those items are really helpful to make your quick page like this !

I used a lot of stickers on my page. I have made a paper photo frame and added words stickers around it.

I love to make 6x12 size projects. Simple Stories Summer Fresh 6x12 Page Elements #2415 is a perfect paper for this type of projects.
